Diamond Cement-Gakli Road to get facelift – Gomashie

The Diamond Cement–Gakli Road in the Ketu South Municipality, which has reportedly not received a major facelift for more than a decade, is expected to undergo rehabilitation soon, Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Member of Parliament for Ketu South, has assured.

The poor condition of the road has been a source of concern to residents and other road users who rely on the route, with communities along the stretch facing difficulties due to its deteriorating state.

Madam Gomashie gave the assurance when she engaged constituents on development projects in the constituency during the presentation of 2,000 bags of fertilizer to farmers and streetlights to the three traditional areas in the Ketu South Municipality.

She said contractors had recently visited the area to undertake pegging, an indication that preparatory work towards the rehabilitation of the road had commenced.

The Diamond Cement–Gakli Road serves several communities within the constituency and provides an important link for residents, businesses and other road users.

Madam Gomashie said the road formed part of several development projects being pursued in the constituency and reaffirmed her commitment to working with government agencies and other stakeholders to advance development in Ketu South.

Other Development Projects

The MP also updated constituents on a number of ongoing and planned projects, including the sea defence project, the Ho–Aflao Road and the 24-hour market initiative at Glidzi in the Klikor Traditional Area.

On the Aflao Modern Market, Madam Gomashie said the project had stalled due to land acquisition challenges.

She, however, said the President had issued a directive to clear the way for the project to commence and that she was working with the Volta Regional Minister to resolve the outstanding issues and facilitate the start of construction.

She therefore urged constituents to disregard assertions that development attention in the constituency was focused solely on the 24-hour market project at Glidzi.

Support for Farmers and Communities

As part of the engagement, Madam Gomashie presented 2,000 bags of fertiliser to farmers across the constituency to support agricultural production and improve their livelihoods.

She also presented 20 streetlights each to the three traditional areas to improve visibility at night and contribute to security in the communities.

Madam Gomashie said the various interventions formed part of broader efforts to improve economic opportunities, infrastructure and living conditions for residents of Ketu South.

The Diamond Cement–Gakli Road rehabilitation, when commenced, is expected to ease transportation challenges for communities along the route and improve connectivity within the municipality.
