Hohoe MP expresses sympathy to flood victims; calls for urgent assessment

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Hohoe, Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, has expressed sympathy to residents affected by flooding in parts of the municipality, following reports of damage to homes, properties and livelihoods.

In a statement, the MP described the severity of the flooding as a matter of serious concern and extended his heartfelt condolences to individuals and families who have suffered losses.

He acknowledged the difficulties and distress caused by the floods and urged affected residents to remain calm as efforts are intensified to assess the situation and respond to the needs of those affected.

According to the MP, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), together with the Municipal Physical Planning Officer, engineers from the Hohoe Municipal Assembly and officers from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), are currently on the ground assessing affected communities.

The team is also documenting the extent of damage caused by the flooding, with the assessment expected to guide further interventions and measures to mitigate the impact of future flooding.

He said the assessment would also help inform actions aimed at addressing the immediate effects of the floods and preventing a recurrence.

“Our thoughts are with all affected families during this difficult period,” the MP said.

The statement comes as residents in affected parts of Hohoe grapple with the consequences of the flooding and its impact on their homes, property and livelihoods.
